My 2nd dine out experience of the year! I’ll be honest I went in not expecting much after seeing the terrible review from DailyHive, and just the fact that its Trump made me have lower expectations. BUT! Although I don’t really want to admit it I loved my experience here. The service was spectacular, the hostess came out to the door to greet me and help put away my umbrella (I’ve never seen a place where hostesses walk out). Our waitress was very sweet and nice, she even kneeled down to take our orders since the lounge tables are quite low (she also apologized about that). The interior was beautiful, super fancy did not feel at all like I was having a $30 meal. That aside food wise everything was average but considering the price, location and service I’d say this is the dine out that gives you the best bang for your buck!
$30 (3 course dinner or lunch)
Burrata cheese, homemade pickle vegetables, albacore aburi style
Nothing special, everything was there but the dish seemed to be missing something.
Grilled octopus, crushed fingerling potato, black olives, toasted pistachio, balsamic dressing
The best dish of the night, my friend who hates octopus even thought this was tasty! Unlike most octopus dishes the octopus in this was thick but not overly chewy, and paired with the potato it was heavenly!
Slow cooked lamb shank, butternut squash puree and seasonal vegetables
The meat itself was well-cooked and fall off the bone tender but I personally didn’t love the pairing of butternut squash and lamb. It made the dish feel like the lamb was swimming in some kind of thick soup.
Roasted lingcod, white bean fricassee, green onion and smoked pancetta
This was my friends choice for the main and she found it to be bland. I also had a bite and agreed with her, plus I don’t like cod and beans so that just made it worse.
Apple crumble, vanilla ice cream
Very basic, but well made dessert, a nice way to finish.
Chocolate banana, and passion fruit pudding, chocolate shavings
This tastes like mushed up banana with chocolate, it wasn’t bad whatsoever but the texture wasn’t the most pleasant.
